Evaluation (See guidance below for more information)
You are required to write a 500 word evaluation of this module.

The module has been my favourite so far which has made me a lot more involved and interested in the briefs. I felt like I could engage a lot more in the set briefs as I could make them more personal. Especially during acts of kindness where I could express my passions. I See Faces allowed me to draw characters which is my strongest skill. At first Persons of Note didn’t interest me at all but it became more interesting when I changed my person and brought more passion to express his views.
During this brief I have developed my skills in Adobe Illustrator which I couldn’t use at all before this brief, The workshops were a massive help in making my sticker design for Acts of Kindness. I have also learnt how to sew a lot better than I have ever done in the past because of the Persons of Note where I was encouraged to come out of my sketchbook where I constantly find myself. I now find sewing therapeutic and plan on experimenting with it a lot more in the future.
I have learnt a lot more about visually communicating in my work by making my designs as minimal as possible and focusing on what can make my images readable without adding text. I noticed this the most in the Persons of Note brief when creating the A2 design which I intended on adding font to but instead concentrated on making a clear action.
I am most proud of my final sticker design. Whenever I have used Adobe Illustrator in the past I have not been too pleased with the outcomes but the workshops that were prior to the final design helped me a lot when thinking of simple shapes to make a strong outcome. The way in which the text fits around the tail of the cat is one of my strongest ideas throughout the whole module as well as the representation of the cat without sticking with the typical nose and whiskers style.
The workshops have influenced my ways of working throughout the module. In particular, the GIF workshop as I had no idea how to make them beforehand. I plan on creating more GIFs in the future as I found it interesting and it made me a lot more enthusiastic when using Photoshop which I tend to avoid.
Looking at other artists has influenced my work such as Emory Douglas where his work inspired me to make my own work more anarchic and protest inspired in Persons of Note. Elliot Krusznski’s sticker designs aided me in creating my own stickers for Acts of Kindness when looking at how he used the space to create it.
This module has inspired me to work out of my sketchbook more in the future and stop just making work to satisfy the brief. I have learnt how to manage my time more effectively when set different briefs as I fell behind a lot in I See Faces and stayed later in the studio to catch up rather than drowning in it at the last minute.

4A5
Demonstrate an awareness of visual literacy and visual language in relation to drawing, image making and the visual investigation of ideas.

Seen in sketchbook and blog where I have developed my image making skills through observational and reference drawing. Also learning about and considering different compositional elements.
good
4B4
Identify and evaluate appropriate principles, processes and media in relation to set problems and individual creative concerns.

My sketchbook is clear of this showing how I have used different media and drawing processes. My skills have developed throughout each brief as I have considered the different processes that I have previously learnt. I have used my blog to evaluate and reflect on my development.
good
4C5
Develop and present a body of work that demonstrates an ability to practically investigate and apply identified visual principles through visual research.

The blog shows how I have researched and further developed my skills through looking at leaflets and answering questions about different approaches (especially composition).
Satisfactory
4D4
Effectively communicate informed opinions and critical awareness through appropriate methods of documentation, reflection and self-evaluation.

My blog demonstrates this as it shows how I have understood the set brief evaluated and reflected on my work. As well as focusing on what I want to look further into and what I found most challenging.
good

Evaluation (See guidance below for more information)
You are required to write a 500 word evaluation of this module.

Overall, I have fully participated in the whole of the module. It is clear that my skills have developed throughout each brief as I have considered what I have learnt in the past tasks. This module has been useful to me as I can now consider elements of drawings such as line quality, shape, texture and composition when creating pieces of work. Composition and depth has been the biggest challenge when creating finalized work although this has improved through different workshops and tasks such as the fan art poster. The fan art poster was one of the strongest pieces I created as I considered the depth and value of the image. However, I find that I still struggle with line quality and making some objects look further away than others especially when the distance of objects is a lot further away.
I enjoyed learning how a frame can affect an image when thinking about composition such as the elephant, butterfly and me task involving working within a frame to create the image which I found quite challenging when creating my roughs although the final design was a strong compositional piece.
For the module as a whole I could have invested more time in creating more pieces of work relating to each brief to further develop my skills that could affect my future work positively making it look a lot more professional. Especially, the shape and texture self portrait which I should have created more final outcomes or created more roughs in my sketchbook before creating my final design so I could focus on stripping my shapes down to the most basic forms.
I have looked and reviewed different peers work especially when looking at line quality and reference/observational drawing (plants) which helped me to develop my own work involving me simplifying my ink paintings. As well as listening to the advice of tutors who constantly feed me with new ideas and concepts for my work.
Visual Language as a whole has and will help me with my present/future work as I now consider composition a lot more when creating pieces of work. The different tasks have allowed me to learn how to make my work look more professional as I think about how line quality, colour, depth and value can all impact the final outcome of my work.
My opinions changed throughout the module as I initially used to just draw an image on a page but I have now began to consider different factors such as shape and line quality which will help me when creating work in the future. It is clear throughout my sketchbook as well as finalized pieces that I have considered different elements that I have learnt in previous tasks. Feedback from other peers as well as tutors always helps me to take my work to the next level and pushes my ideas further which is always useful when developing ideas and creating finalized pieces of work.
